Mela Acres Pool House

This project was one of my favorites. It was for a special interior design client in Dubuque, Iowa. I’m lucky to have been asked to help with this pool house early on. This was a collaboration with lots of people, as lots of these projects go. I really wanted to create a timeless, serene pool house with accents that really play off of the water. After choosing the pool tile, I wanted to pull a color from them that would be reflected in the cabinet color. Originally the contractor wanted gray but I pushed for something more playful yet calming. We landed on Delft Blue from Benjamin Moore and the custom cabinet makers did a great job spraying these so they’re flawless blue. We love that the blue catches everyone’s eyes that see the pool house. We went with Restoration Hardware for all the furniture and I space planned the pool deck and interior pool house with various seating arrangements that you’d never have a place to not put a drink and you’d always have plenty of seating for conversation and relaxing around the pool. Covid back orders are no joke, we still have a console table under the TV and a sculpture for the top shelf of the left shelves but for now, we are pretty happy with the result. I’ll circle back next summer when we have everything else installed. Hope this makes you want to build your own pool house, like I wish I could do!
